Intelligent College Giving: Peter Sulick

February 24, 2020

Intelligent College Giving is a project of the Fund for Academic Renewal featuring video and print interviews with donors who have made innovative, meaningful gifts to higher education.

For our second interview in the Intelligent College Giving series, Peter Sulick shares the story behind his gift to establish the Peter Sulick Chair of Accountancy at The Citadel.

In order to bring practical experience to an academic environment, Mr. Sulick worked with FAR to structure a gift for an endowed visiting professorship at his alma mater. This approach ensures that the position is held by someone with recent industry experience and a strong teaching ability.

When reflecting on this innovative and generous gift, Dr. John P. “Jay” Dowd, III, chief executive officer of The Citadel Foundation, wrote, “Charity and service are essential virtues of a principled leader. Peter Sulick truly embodies this spirit, and I am grateful for his thoughtfully designed gift to establish the Peter Sulick Chair of Accountancy. His investment will ensure that the next generation of Citadel graduates have the opportunity to learn vital lessons from established business leaders.”

Peter Sulick is the president, chairman, and chief executive officer of Dynasil Corporation of America. Mr. Sulick received a B.S. in business administration from The Citadel and his M.B.A. in finance from the University of Massachusetts. In 2015, The Citadel awarded Mr. Sulick with an honorary doctorate in entrepreneurship in recognition of his professional success and lifelong commitment to service. Mr. Sulick funded an endowed chair in accounting for a visiting professorship at The Citadel.
